Brian Grevious Bio & Background
Brian Grevious received his Master of Arts in Human Services from Antioch University and Bachelor of Business Administration from Temple University with a specialization in Management/Industrial Relations and Organizational Behavior. A retired detective (gold shield) and trained investigator and mediator, he has extensive criminal justice experience and forensic interviewing and coordinating of parallel investigations experience at all levels. In addition, Brian has a keen understanding of human behavior and experience managing and organizing behavioral health programs.

Dr. Millicent Carvalho Bio & Background

Millicent Carvalho received her Ph.D. in Social Work, Master of Social Science (Social Work) and Master of Law and Social Policy degrees from Bryn Mawr College. In addition, she received her Master of Counselor Education degree from Boston University.

Dr. Carvalho is a certified mediator, licensed social worker and master trainer.  Trained in most mediation, conferencing and conflict resolution models, Dr. Carvalho founded Pennsylvania Conflict Resolution and Mediation Services, Inc. in 2002 in order to provide more culturally relevant mediation and conflict resolution services.  She has been a practicing mediator for more than 25 years.

Dr. Carvalho’s training helps individuals and groups to manage change in ways that increase collaboration and result in positive outcomes. That is, her mediation and diversity expertise have aided in keeping constituencies with diverse stakeholders and points of view—working together.  Dr. Carvalho’s radio show: Why Can’t We Get Along demonstrates how mediation can resolve conflict and repair damaged relationships peacefully, effectively and privately.

Dr. Carvalho consults and teaches courses in case management, direct practice and conflict resolution for social workers and other professionals. Dr. Carvalho has trained hundreds of individuals to resolve work, family and personal conflicts constructively. Signature training she developed include: “7 Effective Skills for Leadership and Diversity, Repairing Damaged Relationships, Ethical Judgment and Decision Making and Introduction to Conflict Resolutions Processes: Why Can’t We Get Along?”

In addition to her training and research work, Dr. Carvalho has mediated EEOC workplace disputes for the United States Postal Service and special education disputes for the Office of Dispute Resolution, Pennsylvania Department of Education since 2001. A skilled conflict resolution trainer, Dr. Carvalho has a very high successful resolution rate.

She is a member of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, and Practitioners Research and Scholarship Institute.  She is a volunteer Ombudsman and serves on the national board of the Victim-Offender Mediation Association (VOMA).

Additional Background

Dr. Carvalho's background includes associate professor of social work and department chair at Delaware State University and Virginia Union University. Her expertise lies in her skill and motivation to lead in a dynamic university environment, as evidenced by a successful record of dealing creatively, flexibly and fairly with faculty, staff, students and diverse stakeholders.

Before joining the faculty at Virginia Union University, Dr. Carvalho was a visiting associate professor of social work at Cabrini College and taught conflict resolution, human services and community assessment as an adjunct at several colleges and universities.  She has also served as a curriculum development specialist for the New Jersey Office of Children Services, Child Welfare Training Academy, and director of the Urban Studies and Community Services Center at La Salle University—a position she held for more than 10 years.
